Harlequin Ducks and Ruddy Turnstone’s

Found these two Harlequin male ducks, and a few others at the Barnegat Inlet near the Lighthouse on Long Beach Island. They look painted! Also watched some Ruddy Turnstone’s walk along the rocks. They did not know I was there. I love their orange legs. Adorable!

  1. You know, Angela, people really get on Henry Beston’s (The Outermost House) case over having seen ruddy turnstones in full breeding plumage at Christmastime, yet look what you give us! They are so rare — though they pranced all around us at Chatham in the 70’s on Cape Cod — and here they are, exactly the way Henry describes them. Thank you! c
